Thugs of Hindostan Box Office Collection Day 4: Big B, Aamir Khan's film witnesses huge drop on Sunday
The Aditya Chopra produced mega-budget movie released in record number of theatres (5,000 screens) amid huge hype, expectations and promotion.
After smashing several box office records on day one and hitting Rs 100 crore on day three, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan, faced huge drops at the box-office on day four. Trade experts call it the effect of negative word of mouth for the film. The business of YRF mega budget film reportedly faced a big fall of 25 per cent. As per the report of Box Office India, the film managed to collect 16 crore (nett) which is much lower than the estimated collection.
“Thugs Of Hindostan continued the downturn on Sunday as it dropped around 25% from Saturday. The drop is bigger than the drop on Saturday from Friday which was around 18%. The film collected around 16.50-17 crore nett on Sunday which takes the extended weekend to 117.50 crore nett.”, the report reads.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the figures on his Twitter account. He said, "#ThugsOfHindostan faces REJECTION... The dwindling *extended weekend* biz clearly indicates it has failed to live up to the mammoth expectations... It did set new benchmarks on Day 1, but the negative word of mouth hit biz hard on subsequent days... #TOH"
The film has been in free fall since Friday after the huge first day and weekday business will be scary considering what has happened over the last three days. There will be some holiday leftover but that will not help much as Gujarat is feeling the pinch and is not as steady as it should over this period.
