Actress Swara Bhaskar, who is gearing up for her upcoming film ‘Anarkali of Aarah’ recently revealed that she approached filmmaker Aditya Chopra for superstar Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’. The lady was keen to play female lead ‘Aarfa’ in the film but Aditya politely denied her. The role was later played by actress Anushka Sharma.
Swara revealed in an interview that when she came to know that Aditya is making film on wresting having Salman Khan, she messaged the director that she was perfect to play female wrestler Aarfa in the film.
Swara recalled the message that she sent to the director and said, “I actually messaged Adi sir (Aditya Chopra) and said that I think you should cast me in Sultan because I would be able to stand up to a pehelwaan because I have that much grit and spirit.”

The actress stated that she got the reply from Aditya, sweetly saying no to her. She added that she felt happy as instead of ignoring her message, the director himself replied her.
Aditya wrote, “Hi Swara, please don’t mind and I’m sure you have lot of grit and spirit but I don’t think so for this role. Sorry,”

Anushka bagged the role later and received positive response for her performance. Well, Swara has previously worked with Salman in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ but featuring as the female lead opposite him would have proved beneficial for his career. The success story of the film is not hidden from anyone.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, ‘Sultan’ was bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.
On a related note, Swara’s upcoming film ‘Anarkali of Aarah’ is slated to release on June 24.
