Taapsee Pannu Taapsee Pannu opens up on being dropped from Pati Patni Aur Woh

Taapsee Pannu has earned a name for herself in the film industry. The actress, who is known for her subtle acting skills recently called out makers of Pati Patni Aur Woh for dropping her ''unceremoniously'' from the remake. Later in a joint statement, Juno Chopra and co-producer Bhushan Kumar said that they had never finalised Taapsee for the role. In an interview, the actress said that it irked her but she chose to remain mum as retaliating could have made things more ugly.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Taapsee said she has to face such unprofessionalism because she is an outsider. The actress says this is how the industry is and she can't crib about it every day. Taapsee also said that today she did it because she is in a position to do so. ''The struggle doesn’t really end. And I signed up for it. I knew it when I started out. Today I have the power to call it out and I did. Thankfully, I am in a position where I have enough work. If I would have been in a position where I didn’t have enough work, they would have said I am doing it to get attention. That I am making noise,'' the actresss said.

Taapsee further added that her intention was not to target a particular person. She meant to expose the exploitation that some members of the film industry practice. “One film out of my career is not going to make me lose a National Award. The problem wasn’t that. The problem was unprofessionalism which I wanted to call out,'' she said.

Taapsee went on to say, ''I didn’t want to target a particular person or a group of people. That wasn’t the idea. Otherwise, I would have responded to them by publishing the texts that would prove that I was asked to come at (specific) date and block dates. I didn’t want to go to that level. There is no point getting bitter or making it ugly because my idea was to call out this practice which is wrong and should not happen to any other actor.''

On a related note, Pati Patni Aur Woh features Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday in lead roles. For unversed, Ananya is Chunky Panday's daughter and she will be making her debut with Student of the Year 2.

Meanwhile, Taapsee will next be seen in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Badla. The movie directed by Sujoy Ghosh will release in March. She is also shooting for Saand Ki Aankh, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar. Co-produced by Anurag Kashyap, the movie is based on India's oldest sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar.
