New Delhi: Superstar Salman Khan has become synonymous to box office success. With his latest release ‘Sutlan’, he has become the undisputed king of box office as the flick is his 10th consecutive movie to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club. However, it is quite contradictory that despite such amazing box office numbers, Salman Khan is not among the richest celebrities of the world.

Today, Forbes released a list of 100 richest celebrities around the globe and astonishingly the Bhaijaan of Bollywood did not make the cut. The list nestled only two Bollywood actors, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar.

While King Khan is ranked 86th on the list with earnings of Rs 221 crores, Akshay occupied the 94th position with earnings of Rs 211 crores. But, Salman was nowhere to be seen.

Interestingly, last year Salman Khan featured in Forbes’ list of highest paid actors in the world. Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan each made $33.5 million (Rs 224 crores) in 2015 to tie at seventh place. About Salman, Forbes had said “Khan maintains a loyal following, particularly among India’s provincial moviegoers.”

It is due to Salman’s loyal fan base that his movies smash all the box office records, but in terms of earnings he lags behind his Bollywood bestie Shah Rukh Khan.

The reason why King Khan has surged ahead of Salman, might be because of the high number of brands he endorses. SRK, has many times said, that he doesn’t charge anything for his movies instead makes money by endorsing brands and attending private functions. He has also added that in dancing in ceremonies he doesn’t find any shame.

Not only SRK, Akshay too has made it to the list, leaving his ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ co star Sallu behind. Though, Akshay is not a brand favourite, it is his busy schedule all over the year which might have helped him in gaining the 94th position on the list. On an average, Khiladi Kumar does four to five movies a year, unlike his contemporaries who settle for a maximum of two movies. His experimentation with genres have made him one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars. This year too, out of the three films which joined the Rs 100 crores club, two belong to Akshay- Airlift and Housefull 3.

Forbes’ list points out that Salman might be the one star whose movies earn 100 of crores in a few days but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he is one of the richest stars of the globe.
