2018 has been a bombarding year for the Bollywood box office as a number of films have witnessed immense growth in the first week of their release. From Raazi to Stree, Bollywood films have managed to not just bring in the numbers but impress the critics as well. Similarly, just released Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga: Made In India has bowled over everyone in the first weekend itself. After a good box office report on its opening day, the film has only witnessed upward trend and even on the first weekday, the Sharat Kataria directorial has managed to earn Rs 7 crores. This makes Sui Dhaaga’s total box office collection as Rs 43. 60 cr.
Taking to Instagram, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported the latest numbers and wrote, “#SuiDhaaga has a STRONG Day 4... A decline of 15.66% on Day 4 [vis-à-vis Day 1] indicates SOLID HOLD... Big holiday today will boost biz and add to a BIG TOTAL... Fri 8.30 cr, Sat 12.25 cr, Sun 16.05 cr, Mon 7 cr. Total: ₹ 43.60 cr. India biz. Bit early to guesstimate the biz of #SuiDhaaga on a national holiday [today]... A big holiday ensures enhanced footfalls and in this case, a double digit total is a certainty... Since the family audience are patronising the film, a consistent run on subsequent days is assured.”
Well, looks like after the National holiday today (October 2nd), Sui Dhaaga will surely stand across the 50 crore mark. On the other hand, Pataakha, that released alongside Sui Dhaaga, has managed to earn Rs 4.99 cr till date. The movie stars Radhika Madan, Sanya Mahotra and Sunil Grover in lead roles.
Coming back to Sui Dhaaga, it is a realistic slice-of-life drama which gyrates around a lower-middle class couple who aspire to set up their own clothing line. Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan played the lead couple in the movie. Both the actors outdid their respective roles in the Sharat Katariya-directorial. Also, there are many punches in the film especially by Raghuvir Yadav and his on-screen wife, which may get many laughs out of the audience. Without being melodramatic, Sui Dhaaga takes us on a journey of a couple who dared to dream big and even turned their dream into reality.'
Sui Dhaaga Movie Review: Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma’s film isn’t extraordinary but still ‘Sab Badhiya Hai’
Sui Dhaaga is directed by Sharat Katariya whose first directorial venture Dum Laga Ke Haisha was an instant hit among the audience. The film was also a neighbourhood affair of a mismatch couple. It marked the debut of actress Bhumi Pednekar in Bollywood.
