Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree had promised to be a quirky tale, but little did the makers know that the film will turn out to be a huge hit at the box office. The horror-comedy, which crossed the Rs 50-crore mark within six days of its release, is all set to enter Rs 100 crore club. With 1950 screens across the country, the film has able to achieve this feat. On its thirteenth day, the film is still running to packed houses. It scared away the competition like Palan, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Laila Majnu.
“#Stree inches closer to ₹ 100 cr Club... [Week 2] Fri 4.39 cr, Sat 7.63 cr, Sun 9.88 cr, Mon 3.31 cr, Tue 3.22 cr, Wed 2.95 cr. Total: ₹ 91.77 cr. India biz”, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
2018 has been fantastic for some unexpected Blockbusters, as evidenced earlier in case of Baaghi 2 and Raazi as well. Now Stree has joined the league which is just fantastic since it is surprises like these that add on to all the fun that Bollywood flicks enjoy right through the year. While 2017 was comparatively poor for quite a few much-hyped films, 2018 has emerged as an year where there have been quite a few unexpected successes breaking the barrier.
Stree revolves around the story of Nale Ba and is directed by debutant director Amar Kaushik. The film, which released on August 31, will soon be the ninth Bollywood film to hit 100 crore mark after Padmaavat, Raazi, Gold, Baaghi 2, Raid, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Sanju and Race 3.
