Few days after Bollywood observed veteran actress Sridevi’s first death anniversary, announcement has been made that her last film Mom will release in China. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh broke the news on his official Twitter account. The crime-thriller which had Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles was Sridevi’s 300th film in Indian cinema. It will hit the screens in China on March 22, around 2 years after its official release in India.
Veteran actress Sridevi also won the Natoinal Award for Best Actress for this film which was produced by her filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor. It was Sridevi’s last film as a lead actress. After that, she did a cameo for Shah Rukh Khan’s film Zero, which released in December last year.
Here’s the poster of Mom for the local audience of China.
Mom is not the first Bollywood film to release in China. Prior to this many films including Tubelight, Thugs of Hindostan, Dangal, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and others have released in China. Each of these films have performed phenomenally at the box office, except Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan.
Talking about Mom, it’s a revenge drama in which Devki (Sridevi) decides to avenge her daughter Arya’s gangrape after court acquits the convicts. Akshaye Khanna who played the role of a cop, sides with her to plan her avenger. Both Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s performances were lauded by the film critics and audience.
Mom won two National Awards last year- Best Actress for Sridevi and Best Background Score for AR Rahman.
