Ranveer Singh's Simmba is inching closer towards Rs 200 crore. In its second weekend, the total collection of Rohit Shetty's directorial has reached Rs 190.64 crore. With this, it has become the third highest grosser of 2018 after Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. Simmba minted Rs 17.49 crore on second Sunday. Still, a couple of days are left before a new movie hit the screens, hence, chances of the cop drama crossing the Rs 200 mark is high.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the news of its day 10 collection. He wrote, ''#Simmba refuses to slow down... Packs a solid punch in Weekend 2... Nears ₹ 200 cr mark... Emerges THIRD HIGHEST GROSSER of 2018, after #Sanju and #Padmaavat... [Week 2] Fri 9.02 cr, Sat 13.32 cr, Sun 17.49 cr. Total: ₹ 190.64 cr. India biz.''

Simmba is Sara Ali Khan's second movie. She debuted in December 2018 with Kedarnath, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput. Reports said that Sara used to message Rohit Shetty as she desperately wanted to be a part of the movie. In the latest interview with DNA, the director has confirmed the same. Shetty revealed that Sara sent him 'numerous' messages and he used to think, ''this kid doesn’t realise that she is doing Kedarnath''. Later, after talking to Kedarnath director Abhishek Kapoor, Shetty agreed to take Sara in his project. Shetty says he is happy that Kedarnath released first.

The cop drama also starring Ashutosh Rana and Sonu Sood has all the elements of a masala Bollywood film. Though Simmba is entertaining, it lacks freshness. This time too, Shetty has refrained from experimenting and treated his audience with a film on similar lines of his previous directorial, Singham and Singham 2. Meanwhile, Simmba also has cameos of Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn.

On a related note, this is Rohit Shetty's eighth movie which has minted over Rs 100 crore. Simmba has also become Ranveer's fourth movie to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club. The other three movies are Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial.
