Helmed by Mani Kaul, the movie was never released commercially. In 1992, it was screened in 1992. The film will have a screening at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival in the newly introduced programme 'The New Medium'. The segment will be curated by artist Shaina Anand.

Based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot, ‘Ahamaq’ will be screened back to back as a four-hour movie.

Urging fans to book their tickets for his movie, Shah Rukh shared this on Twitter:

"We are truly excited to present this new section - my personal favourite section - which showcases some of the more bold and seminal experiments in filmmaking.
