John Abraham and Aisha Sharma’s Independence day treat Satyameva Jayate managed to bring the audience to the theaters in the first week and earned good numbers at the box office. Despite solid competition from Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Gold, the film earned Rs 20.52 crores on its opening day. But looks like the movie is already beginning to lose its charm as it witnessed a decline in the box office numbers in Weekend two.

Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate saw a very mediocre second weekend as, according to the reports in Box Office India, the film collected just 6.50 crore nett to take its total to around 72.50 crore nett. Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on his social media, “#SatyamevaJayate saw a decline in Weekend 2... Biz got a boost on second Sun [due to #RakshaBandhan]… Continues to have an edge in mass circuits/single screens... Is a HIT, due to its economics.”

Satyameva Jayate Movie Review

India TV rates Satyameva Jayate 2.5 out of five. Our film critic writes, “From bribery to fake gallantry medals, the film talks about all. It hits right at the point when it refers to the Khaki colour as the new colour of fear and bias and didn’t shy away from raising fingers at the existent flaws in our system. The film packs many punches like ‘Gareeb insaan kachre ki tarah hote hain aur kachre ko insaaf nahi milta.’, ‘note badle neeyat nahi’ lampooning the fraudulent ways of the police. The eternal chase between Veer and Shivansh keep you at the edge of your seat. The film is full of anger and frustration and you will feel the same while watching it. It’s not a happy film for even fraction of a second, and so, it’s the utmost real.”
