Bollywood film Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala in lead roles is now the 6th highest grossing Hindi movie of all times. The Sanjay Dutt biopic is creating a rage at the box-office. Earning Rs 21.46 crore in its third weekend, Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju has now collected a total of a massive Rs 316.64 crore on the seventh day of its opening. This is Ranbir Kapoor’s first film to enter the coveted 300 crore club.
“#Sanju crosses ₹ 300 cr mark... Remained ROCK-STEADY in Weekend 3, despite new films eating into the market share... Is now the 6TH HIGHEST GROSSING *Hindi* film... [Week 3] Fri 4.42 cr, Sat 7.75 cr, Sun 9.29 cr. Total: ₹ 316.64 cr. India biz”, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared Sanju Box Office Collection Day 17 on Twitter.
The whitewashing criticism of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer notwithstanding, the film is still dominating the box office. The usual movie-going audience does not seem to care whether the film depicts events faithfully or not. Also, it can be argued that Sanju is a commercial film and a commercial film, first and foremost, has to be a crowd-pleaser. And crowd-pleaser, Sanju is — as the numbers suggest.
This Friday the cinemas opened to another biopic Soorma, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles. However, Sanju is winning audience’s love hands down as people are more than willing to watch the Sanjay Dutt biopic again and again.
Starring other phenomenal actors like Vicky Kaushal, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Paresh Rawal and Manisha Koirala, the movie has impressed the audience quite a bit and has turned out to be a major crowd-pleaser. Not just Ranbir but other actors in the film have also given mind-blowing performances, making the movie ascent furthermore.
