Actors Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu will today appear before a Jodhpur court for recording of statements in the 1998 black buck poaching case.

The directions to all actors to appear before the local court here was issued by Chief Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh earlier this month. The orders were passed after the completion of examination of all the witnesses in the court.

It is possible that the counsel of Salman and other accused will file a petition in the court seeking approval for absence, reports said.

“If there is a genuine reason for not coming, then there is a petition for absenteeism. How can I say whether they will come or not? The statements of accused will be taken tomorrow (Wednesday),” Salman’s lawyer Hastimal Saraswat said.

Salman Khan is facing trial in a case of poaching of the endangered black buck in Kankani village in Jodhpur and possession of illegal arms. Saif Ali Khan, Bendre, Tabu and Neelam accompanied Salman Khan during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain on October 1, 1998.

Following protests by the locals, a case was filed against all actors and a local named Dushyant Singh.

Last week, Salman was acquitted by a local Jodhpur court in an Arms Act case linked to the killing of a black buck.
