Superstar Salman Khan, who was accused of killing a chinkara in 1998, has filed a defamation case of Rs 100 crore against a news channel, suggest media reports. It was alleged that the during the shooting of the movie ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, he had poached a chinkara and the case got a lot of media attention.
Now in a fresh twist, Salman has reportedly filed a case against a channel for maligning his name through a sting operation. Through the sting operation, the channel claimed that witnesses stated that they saw Salman shooting the endangered specie. However, things took a turn when the witnesses turned hostiles and ended up claiming that the video was doctored.
Reportedly, Salman has filed a defamation suit before a division bench of the Bombay High Court. He has asked the court to refrain the channel from releasing the tape, claiming it will ruin his public image.
During the last hearing that took place on August 24, the channel claimed that it has erased the tape and everything related to it including the script of the sting operation. Earlier this month, both parties reportedly submitted affidavits to the court and said that they were working on a settlement.
The defamation suit by Salman will be heard by Justice SJ Kathawalla on November 18.
The long strewn case bought a major relief to the 50-year-old superstar when he was acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court earlier this year. In the court, the actor had claimed that he was being framed.
