Superstar Salman Khan has paid Rs 16 crore as advance tax by September 2016 hence becoming the highest tax payer in Bollywood. A report published in a leading daily suggested that Salman had paid Rs 11 crore as advance tax for fiscal year 2016 -17. An increase in the payment points out that the Bhaijaan has earned more than he did last year.
This year has been particularly rewarding for Salman as his movie ‘Sutlan’ earned around Rs 584 crore globally.
By paying an amount of Rs 11 crore, actors Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan tied at the second position. Notably, last year Akshay was the highest advance tax payer with Rs 18 crore. On the other hand, Hrithik had not even made it to the list in 2015.
For Khiladi Kumar this year has been fulfilling with all three of his movies ‘Airlift’, ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Rustom’ entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
On the third position of this list is actor Ranbir Kapoor who paid an advance tax of Rs 7.8 crore. Last year he had paid Rs 4 crore.
The fourth position on the list was attained by comedian and actor Kapil Sharma. Till September this year, Kapil has paid Rs 6.06 crore as advance tax.
By paying such an amount, Kapil has defeated superstar Aamir Khan. Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood has paid to 3.7 crore as advamce tax.
Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has paid Rs 2 crore (unlike Rs 2.2 crore) last year and actor Shahid Kapoor has paid Rs 1.75 crore.
The report added that the IT department did not disclose advance tax amount of Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. While the Bachchans are under probe after Panama Papers’ leak, SRK’s investment in Guld countries is under scrutiny.
