Sachin A Billion Dreams Review Sachin A Billion Dreams Review Must-go for cricket fans who were missing Sachin

Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a biographical film based on the life of legendary cricketer whom we all know as Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. The film beautifully recites the tale of a 10-year-old restless boy who grows up to give a new shape to Indian cricket. Directed by James Erskine, this movie was highly anticipated among the cricket buffs of our country. So here it comes and our wait ends now. Let’s have a quick look at what the film has to offer us.

Story

Story of this film although, doesn’t require any narration. We all know what made Sachin a prodigy in the field of cricket and the journey he’s been through. The story of the film begins right from the scratch, where Sachin can be seen as a 10-year old boy with little or no clue about what he’s going to make of his life. His journey to becoming an extraordinary batsmen took birth when he saw India’s first World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev lift the shining trophy. That very day, he had cultivated this dream of winning the prestigious World Cup Trophy in his very own hand. The rest which follows is the history we all saw on the cricket pitch, not once but many a times.

Review

Firstly, I would like to state that Sachin: A Billion Dreams is not a movie. To label this exhilarating journey of God of Cricket as a mere movie won’t be fair enough. Like it has been already mentioned at the very start of the flick, Sachin is not just a cricketer, a human, he’s an emotion. Getting back to the review, the movie already had an explosive subject in its hands that has drawn enough public attention and acclaim, specifically by the cricket enthusiasts. The film recollects the significant moments of Sachin’s life, varying from his furious encounter with the Pakistani bowler Waqar Younis to dark phase of Indian cricket back in 1999.

The ‘Cricket Premi’ audience will get many visual treats in the movie where Indian cricket’s some of the pivotal moments are punctuated. For like of those who’ve been missing seeing their ‘Cricket God’ on the pitch, the movie promises many such instances which will leave them with a lump in their throat. We’ve all seen Sachin Tendulkar batting his glories to the victory countless of times from the arena or on our television sets. But this movie brings us the glimpse of Sachin as a man behind his blue jersey. The untold parts of his life, the unsung heroes of his life and the times when even the ‘God’ wasn’t feeling the best of himself.

The biographical film keeps a special segment for the pillar who’ve been holding the foundation of Sachin Tendulkar. The heroes, who are least talked about; his family and friends. Sachin always wanted to, in fact still wishes to become a complete mirror image of his father, Ramesh Tendulkar. His contribution to make Sachin what he is today is indispensable and deserved all the special mentions in his biography. He also credits his brother Ajit Tendular as a guiding light who always had his back in the times of low. His fans have always wished to know more about the love story of Sachin and Anjali and this movie brings some of those mushy moments of the couple as well.

The fans are surprised that several such incidents that deserved a mention were found missing from the movie. The Mike-Denness ball tempering moment should’ve been a part of the film, but the filmmakers somehow decided to give it a miss. The training sequence where a young boy was being hammered and polished into the greatest batsman the world was going to see, was a bit over-dramatized just like any other biopic we get to see. But as it’s unknown to us, cricket is just like the air we breathe, and when it comes to Sachin, he’s no less than the oxygen. In short, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, is an edge-of-the-seat walkthrough in Sachin Tendulkar’s life, and experiencing a 10-year-old boy transforming into a personality who rewrites the history of Indian cricket.

The movie is undoubtedly a must watch, whether you are a Sachin fan or not. 5 stars for SACHIN.... SACHIN..!
