After few of his movies bombed at the box office, everyone started questioning actor Ranbir Kapoor’s talents and his choice of movies. Seems his father Rishi Kapoor too felt the same at some point of time. While giving one of his candid best interviews to Simi Gerewal, Rishi Kapoor said that he would have not allowed his son to do few movies.

Now one may think Rishi would be referring to ‘Bombay Velvet’ or ‘Besharam’ or ‘Roy’, as all these movies put huge blots on Ranbir’s career. But, this is not the case. In fact, Rishi said that he didn’t approve of Ranbir being a part of movies- Barfii, Wake Up Sid and Rocket Singh.

This is absolutely surprising because these three movies were appreciated by critics. Even the audience lauded Ranbir’s courage to do these movies at an early stage in his career. Notably, it was these three movies which contributed a great deal in establishing Ranbir, the actor in the industry.

This brings us to the question? Why would Chintu Kapoor disapprove it.

Doling out reason he said that his son was a good actor, and as a father he was looking out for his career. He said that during the time of Barfi, people likened Ranbir to Amol Palekar.

“I would have never allowed him to do a film like Wake Up Sid or Rocket Singh or Barfi. Before and after Barfi, people told me tere bete ko kya ho gaya hai? He’s going the Amol Palekar way! He should be a star. But he proved me wrong and I’m happy that he proved me wrong,” Rishi reportedly said.

On work front, Ranbir is awaiting release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, a Karan Johar directorial which also features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma. The movie’s trailer got rave reviews from viewers with few stating that it is Ranbir’s show.
