Not just the Kapoor clan and Bollywood celebrities, but fans all over the world are deeply disheartened by the news of the famous RK Studio to be put on sale. The Studio produced films like Awaara, Shree 420, Mera Naam Joker and Bobby among many others, but most importantly gave us memories to cherish all our lives. There is no doubt that the family had to keep stone on their hearts before taking this decision but as Rishi Kapoor claimed ‘it isn’t always possible for a phoenix to rise from the ashes’.
The iconic studio was built by veteran actor Raj Kapoor nearly 70 years ago. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Rishi Kapoor spoke on the behalf of the family. He said, “For a while, we did juggle with the idea of renovating the place with state-of-the-art technology. However, in reality, it isn’t always possible for a phoenix to rise from the ashes. We Kapoors are very emotional lot but then the investment in rebuilding the studio would just not have yielded sufficient revenue to keep it going.”

While many Bollywood actors have expressed their sadness over RK Studios fading away, veteran actor Raza Murad also shared his thoughts about the iconic studio and Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor. The actor reveals that for Raj Kapoor, the studio was not just a building but a temple because he considered filmmaking above everything.
Raza Murad has been attached with RK Studios for the longest time. He has played the villain in three iconic RK movies Prem Rog, Ram Teri Ganga Maili and Heena. Murad remembers the sets of all his three films and reveals how gorgeous locales were build to shoot the songs and movies.

RK Studio has been facing massive losses since it hardly gets any booking for Bollywood or television projects. The major blow to the studio was its location, Chembur in the eastern suburbs. The location is no longer sought after the filmmakers. The studios in Andheri and Goregaon’s Film City are the primary attractions for shootings nowadays, leaving RK Studio in oblivion. According to a Quint report, the RK Studio which is located in eastern Mumbai could fetch around Rs 500 crore to the seller.
