This week’s Bollywood release ‘Befikre’ is off to a good start at the box office. Reports have it that this Ranveer Singh- Vaani Kapoor starrer has raked in over Rs 10 crore yesterday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to inform about the Day 1 collections of the film.
He tweeted:
A huge amount of credit for this commendable box office collection is because of the buzz that the movie generated. ‘Befikre’ marked the return of Aditya Chopra as director after eight years. This was also his first directorial without superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
Another reason why this movie hogged limelight was because of the fresh pair of Vaani and Ranveer. Right from when the first poster released, it hinted that the movie will be high on kisses. Subsequently almost every poster had a lip lock between Vaani and Ranveer.
It was this immense popularity the movie earned that led to the makers spending a whooping amount of Rs 15 crore in publicity. This further helped the movie, which was made on budget of Rs 55 crore, become the talk of the town.
Reviews of ‘Befikre’ have been mixed. On one hand while critics found the movie a fresh take on Bollywood romances, there were others who felt that ‘Befikre’ is largely old wine in new bottle. However, it was Ranveer’s act as Dharam that impressed many. Though he played a stand up comedian and his jokes weren’t touted as funny; Ranveer made up for this through his other acts.
All in all, ‘Befikre’ is looking at reasonable box office collections.
