After Pati Patni Aur Woh, Bhushan Kumar will be remaking Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 1975 slice-of-life cult comedy Chupke Chupke. The producer has collaborated with Luv Ranjan for the film and the first actor which has reportedly been roped in is Rajkummar Rao. As per Mumbai Mirror, Rajkummar will reprise the role of Dharmendra, who played a professor of botany, Parimal Tripathi, masquerading as a driver Pyare Mohan in the original.
Chupke Chupke is an iconic film and a favourite of many, including Rajkummar. He loved the idea of a remake and has agreed to come on board. It will have Raj in the dual avatars. The script is still being finalised, while the director and the rest of the cast are yet to be locked but the team is really excited about this one," Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying.
The original film also featured Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Usha Kiran, Asrani, Lily Chakravarty, David and Keshto Mukherjee and Om Prakash in important roles. The movie didn't just have strong star cast but also phenomenal supporting cast. It would be interesting to see whether the remake matches the original as the expectations would be high. For unversed, Chupke Chupke was the Hindi remake of Uttam Kumar and Madhabi Mukherjee's 1971 Bengali film Chhadmabeshi.
Chupke Chupke remake is expected to go on floors in the next few months.
