Where superstar Rajinikanth is involved, it is quite obvious to expect wonders at the box office. His latest release ‘Kabali’ and the frenzy surrounding it is another testimony of the star power. We already know how his craze is unmatched and have since yesterday hearing all weird things his fans did to catch the first day screenings of the show.

As it turns out, this entire whirl has translated into amazing box office numbers for ‘Kabali’ as the movie has done incredible business on the first day. Reports have it that ‘Kabali’ has earned over Rs 40 crore in the domestic market on the opening day itself. It released over 12,000 screens worldwide said reports.

This estimate has come from the advance booking and if this turns out to be true, then this makes Rajinikanth the undisputed ‘Thalaivar’ of the box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the movie has earned Rs 12.93 crorses from International markets of USA and Canada. Also, it became the biggest Hindi movie opener in Malaysia.

So much for Rajini power!

Records broken by Kabali:

With these numbers, ‘Kabali’ has broken the record of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus movie ‘Baahubali’. Early numbers said that by earning Rs 13 crores ($2 millions) overseas on first day, ‘Kabali’ has left Baahubali behind.

Apart from ‘Baahubali’, ‘Kabali’ has also surpassed superstar Salman Khan’s  All Time Bollywood Blockbuster ‘Sultan’. While the wrestling drama earned Rs 37.50 crores on its release day of July 06, ‘Kabali’ has earned more than that Rs 40 crores.

It should be noted that ‘Sultan’ became the biggest opener of Bollywood in 2016, but then it was minus Rajinikanth. And where the ‘Thalaivar’ is concerned, these collections don’t come as a surprise.
