It is the battle of the blockbusters and the verdict of the day 1 box-office collections is out. So, who stole the show? Any guesses?
Well, big congratulations to SRK fans as Raees enjoyed a massive opening of Rs 20.42 crore on Day 1 of its release as compared to Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil that earned a decent Rs 10.43 crore.
The opening day collections of 'Raees' are higher than SRK's last two releases - 'Fan' and 'Dear Zindagi'. On the other hand, Hrithik and Yami Gautam's Kaabil has beaten the opening day collection of Hrithik's last outing Mohenjo Daro and Yami's last film Junooniyat.
While the numbers are a good enough reason for Shah Rukh to celebrate, that’s not the only reason he should be smiling. King Khan has received admiration for his nuanced performance in the role of a bootlegger in Gujarat.
Shah Rukh plays Raees Alam in the film, Pakistani actor Mahira Khan plays his love interest and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a tough-as-nails cop who is out to put an end to Raees' illegal activities.
Kaabil, on the other hand, is a revenge drama revolving around a blind Hrithik seeking revenge for his wife Yami's sexual assault. Both the leading actors have been lauded for their 'Kaabil' performances, although the film itself has not received very good reviews.
As far as collections go, Shah Rukh had promised "Aa raha hoon main" and looks like he surely has arrived. Will Raees be the next big movie of Bollywood or will Kaabil catch up soon? Well, only time will tell.
