Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi featuring actress Alia Bhatt and actor Vicky Kaushal has finally entered the coveted Rs 100 cr club. Despite new releases and IPL finale, the film managed to rake in such a huge amount. Well, Raazi is officially a hit. This is Vicky’s first and Alia’s third film to the coveted club after 2 States and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The numbers were shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on social media.
He took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “It’s ₹ 100 cr and counting... #Raazi continues to be a STRONG FORCE at the BO... #IPL finals [Sun] did affect the biz, but the [third] weekend total is HEALTHY... [Week 3] Fri 2.25 cr, Sat 4.20 cr, Sun 4.42 cr. Total: ₹ 102.50 cr. India biz.”
This is the second heroine-centric movie after Kangana Ranaut’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns that has collected Rs 100 cr. Well, Raazi has once again proved that only good stories are appreciated by cinema lovers.
Raazi was based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat in which Alia played the role of an Indian spy who was married off to a Pakistani officer to transfer confidential information.
On a related note, Alia has some good projects in her kitty. The lady has recently wrapped up the shooting of Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy. She will also be seen sharing the screen space with Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan in Brahmastra.
