New Delhi: Within 24 hours of being booked for abetting suicide of TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh has suffered another blow.
His lawyer Neeraj Kumar has walked out of the case stating that he has been kept in dark about certain facts by his client. He further added that after learning the facts he decided to quit the case on ‘humanitarian grounds’.
Pratyusha Banerjee, who rose to fame with her role of ‘Anandi’ in TV serial Balika Vadhu, allegedly committed suicide in her residence in Mumbai.
The shocking news of her death created uproar in the TV industry. Since day one, her friends and colleagues have been alleging that Pratyusha was in an abusive relationship with Rahul Raj Sing and that it was not suicide but murder.
Her parents, who talked to media on Tuesday, reiterated the same and wished that Rahul should be hanged or sentenced for life.
Interestingly, in the due course of investigation, several women also came forward to reveal that Rahul had duped them of hefty amounts of money under different pretexts.
Now, with Rahul’s lawyer backing off, the troubles have certainly mounted on him. Though, he has applied for the anticipatory bail in the court and the matter is scheduled for hearing on Thursday.
