New Delhi: Refusing to accept that that their daughter could commit suicide, parents of deceased actress Pratyusha Banerjee today said that they wish producer Rahul Raj Singh would rot in prison for the rest of his life.
“Until and unless it is proved that she committed suicide, we won’t accept it,”
Pratyusha’s father Shankar Banerjee said when reporters suggested that their daughter Pratyusha may have killed herself.
On Friday, the April 1, Pratyusha was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her residence. Her boyfriend Rahul Singh opened the door to their home and rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead.
After Pratyusha’s mother made fresh statements about Rahul, earlier in the day, an FIR has been registered against him for abetting suicide and assault.
Fuming with hatred for Rahul, Pratyusha’s mother Shoma said,
“I want that either Rahul is hanged or kept in prison for the rest of his life. He has ruined the lives of many girls.”
Reports in media suggested that maybe Pratyusha decided to end her life because she was reeling under a financial crisis. When questioned on this, her mother replied in the negative,
“There was nothing like this. Rahul and his father handled Pratyusha’s accounts, they can tell you better.” “Rahul tried his best to keep Pratyusha away from us. He used to threaten her and abuse her verbally,” added Shoma.

Questioning Rahul’s intentions in reviving Pratyusha, her father Shankar asked,
“Why did Rahul not take her to the nearby nursing home? What was the point of taking her to Kokilaben hospital?”
Remembering his 24-year-old daughter, a teary eyed Shankar said,
“Pratyusha loved astrology. Last time we spoke she spoke about astrology and had said that her life is going through a difficult phase.”
