At a time when Baahubali has broken all box-office records, the Prabhas starrer film is making headlines for all the right reasons. Netflix has signed a whopping 25.5 crore with the film makers, fresh reports suggest. The popular streaming service has reportedly acquired the rights to stream Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The conclusion, according to Mint. The deal was signed for a whopping sum of 4 million dollars which is approximately 25.5 crores.
Jessica Lee, Vice President(communications), Netflix said, "On the content front, we are doubling down on Indian investment to curate a compelling content library enbcompassing original and licensed titles. We are touching a pool of consumers with a great passion for diverse entertainment"
With the Netflix deal, the SS Rajamouli film will be available in unexplored market of 192 counties. Shobu Yarlagadda, co-founder and CEO of Arka Mediaworks said, " We are happy and excited to partner with Netflix. Theatrically, it's not possible to reach all markets, but with this deal Baahubali will reach 192 countries seamlessly."
Netflix was ranked No. 9 among video-streaming apps in terms of monthly active usage in the first half of this year. This was based on the data collected across Andriod phones by app analytics firm App Annie Inc, the newspaper reported. Baahubali could potentially be a game changer in terms of viewership.
Directed by SS Rajamouli, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion features Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles.
