Vishal Bhardwaj directorial Pataakha featuring Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan, Sunil Grover, Vijay Raaz witnessed a low start at box-office on day one. Pataakha is a drama comedy based on Charan Singh Pathik's short story titled Do Behnein. The story of Pataakha revolves around two sisters from a small village in Rajasthan. They keep fighting and arguing with each other but later after marriage they realise that they can’t live either with or without each other.

According to the report of Box Office India, Pataakha had a very low box-office collection that is of 0-5% on day one. The film had a clash with Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan starrer Sui Dhaaga, which can be a tough competition for it at box office.

As per film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ''Pataakha Fri Rs 90 lakhs [875 screens]. India biz... Had a lukewarm start at the start of Day 1 and should grow over the weekend... However, the growth has to be multi-fold since the starting point has been extremely low.''

The film also features stand-up comedian and actor Sunil and talking about his experience of working with Vishal Bhardwaj, he said earlier, ‘’As an individual, I had my own approach to play a character. So, initially I was trying to do that. But when I started discussing things with Vishal sir, my approach changed. Sir thinks from a broader perspective, but I was thinking only of my character. "So, working with sir made me think differently. I unlearned a lot to learn new things from sir."

Pataakha Movie Review:

Desi, raw and good performances- These are the things which you expect from a Vishal Bhardwaj film and Pataakha, the filmmaker's latest outing tick marks all three criteria. Pataakha is adapted from a short story Do Behnein by Charan Singh Pathik. This beautiful grimy film dazzles because of its brilliant actors, director and writer. From small houses, narrow lanes, village style baarat to the scattered cow dung, Bhardwaj has taken care of nuances in Pataakha.
