Anushka Sharma’s Pari, which gave the masses shivers with its screamers released in four parts and of course, trailer. It has to be said that Pari is Anushka Sharma’s one of the most anticipated films this year, another being Zero. The trailers and screamers have sparked much interest in the horror flick and the fans can’t wait to see Anushka Sharma’s scary avatar on big screens. But despite the hullabaloo, apart from social media, the team will not promote Pari.
According to a DNA report, Anushka Sharma will not go out in promoting her home production film Pari. A source told the leading daily, “They don’t want anything to be revealed just as yet. It was Anushka and brother Karnesh Sharma’s call to not lineup any interviews, lest they end up revealing anything from the film. Pari isn’t a film where one can even talk about what’s there in it. They want to keep the mystery intact.”
“Anushka is currently in Bhopal, shooting with Varun Dhawan for Sui Dhaaga. She won’t take any break and will return only in April,” the source added.
This is not the first time that a Bollywood film has followed a no-promotion strategy. Padmaavat and Ittefaq have also adopted this strategy. The makers of Ittefaq didn’t promote their film to keep the plot of the picture under wraps while Sanjay Leela Bhansali steered clear from promotional activity to avoid any further conspiracies.
Anushka Sharma has shed her girl-next-door avatar with this upcoming horror flick Pari. The 29-year-old actress dared to opt for an offbeat role that no other mainstream actress in Bollywood has attempted in recent times. The beautiful actress has projected herself with spine-chilling scars on her face to scare the daylights out of horror lovers. In her last film Jab Harry Met Sejal, the actress sported a chic Gujarati girl guise which heavily contradicts her role in Pari. And also for your information, Anushka Sharma’s character in Pari is named as Rukhsana and not ‘Pari’.
Talking about Anushka’s creepy avatar in Pari, British Prosthetic designer Clover Woottoon said, “There are many shades to Anushka’s character in Pari. But, most importantly, we wanted people to forget Anushka the person, and think about Rukhsana (her character) alone. Anushka being a strikingly pretty face, we didn’t do too much with her. We just made her eyebrows bushier, added lenses and darkened the under eyes so that she looked more tired. We blurred the edge of her lips so that it looks drier and that is literally all that we did. Depending on the scene requirements we made her cheeks a little more pink but that’s about it…nothing more was done and yet, she looked so different!”
Pari is being bankrolled by Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Production with KriArj Entertainment. It is directed by debutant director Prosit Roy. Apart from Anushka, it stars Rajat Kapoor, Parambrata Chatterjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty in pivotal roles.
