Shahid Kapoor, who will be next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-controversial period drama Padmavati, is all set to act in ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’. The movie is already creating a buzz in B-town and among fans but not for the right reasons. There have been reports that Maharawal Ratan Singh from Padmavati doesn’t want to work with Tiger Zinda Hai actress Katrina Kaif. The female lead of the film is yet to be decided. But Udta Punjab actor has a different take on the matter. Here’s what he has to say about it.
The actor cleared this news on his official Twitter page.
He quoted a leading daily in his tweet and rubbished the report. He wrote: ‘Total Rubbish!’.
Shree Narayan Singh also cleared the air around these rumours. He told Pinkvilla, “This is absolutely untrue I do not even understand where this is coming from why would Shahid be unhappy? Firstly Shahid does not interfere with the creatives and casting, secondly, We are yet to take a call on this. Myself and Prerna – producer will take a joint call very soon. Regards to Katrina or any actor, it is the director’s call and Shahid equally supports this. To sum it up Shahid has no reservations at all if Katrina is on board, in fact, he will be glad to have her on the film. It’s better not to speculate things like this.”
Batti Gul Meter Chalu’s trailer is scheduled to be released on Diwali next year. The 36-old-actor will play the role of a lawyer in the movie. The movie focuses on the issue of highly priced electricity bills which has become a common problem for the citizens. Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, the flick is slated to release on August 31, 2018. Earlier, Shree Narayan Singh has directed Akshay Kumar’s recent hit Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
