Ace comedian Kapil Sharma, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Firangi, has come out in support of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati. The actor condemned the death threats given to actress Deepika Padukone and the director adding that if anything will be objectionable in the film, CBFC will make sure to remove it. Padmavati has been mired in controversy from quite some time and now things are getting murkier with each passing day.

While talking to ANI, the comedian said, “Nobody has seen the 'Padmavati' yet and I feel Censor Board is there is to look up into the matter. If there is anything objectionable, then the board keeping in mind the sentiments of people, should remove it. I strongly condemn death threats given to artists. Artists are not at any fault, they just do their work.”

Kapil went on to say that in our country people have right to express their opinions, but threat threats should not be given.

On a related note, Padmavati has been facing the ire of religious groups for allegedly distorting the historical facts. The release date of the film has also been postponed due to which Kapil’s Firangi will now hit the screens on December 1.
