Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte starrer PadMan has continued its golden run at the box office. The film has raked in Rs 7.25 cr on Wednesday and the total collection of the film now stands at Rs 59.29 cr. The numbers were shared by trade analyst Ramesh Bala on social media. PadMan talks about the sensitive subject of menstrual hygiene which is considered taboo in the society.
Ramesh took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “. @akshaykumar 's #PadMan saw a jump on Wed - Feb 14th - ₹ 7.25 cr. Total: ₹ 59.29 cr. India biz. Nett..”
The film earned Rs 10.26 cr on its opening day and it has been doing wonderful business. It is moving towards Rs 100 cr mark. If this happens then it is going to be Akshay’s consecutive 100 cr film as his previous films Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha also entered the coveted club. Before the release of the film, the actors took and give PadMan challenge under which they were seen posing with sanitary napkins telling people that periods are normal.
On a related note, PadMan is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who invented low-cost sanitary napkins. It is directed by R. Balki and the project has been bankrolled by Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna.
