After a troublesome journey and umpteen roadblocks, Deepika Padukone’s Padukone is finally entertaining the crown in theatres. This year, Republic Day was dominated by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and team. But apart from Bhansali’s Padmaavat, one more big film hit the theatres. We’re talking about Anushka Shetty’s horror-thriller film Bhaagamathie. Both Padmaavat and Bhaagamathie were highly-anticipated as Deepika Padukone was returning to big screen after a long gap while Anushka Shetty came back after her successful film Baahubali 2. But when talking about impressing the audience and the box office numbers, we have a clear winner here.
Yes, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has beaten Anushka Shetty’s Bhaagamathie as well as Nimir, Mannar Vagaiyara, TSK hands down. The period drama has dominated the box office even in Chennai as well. Trade Analyst Ramesh Bala took to twitter to share the new feat achieved by Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh-starrer.
Talking about the box office collection of Padmaavat, the film has broken several records in just four days of release. It has crossed the lifetime business of Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai in its opening weekend in Australia. It is also expected to shatter the records of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3. Also, Padmaavat has become the highest opening Hindi film in the UK. So far, this film has bagged approximately 110 crore at domestic box office.
Despite the bans and few states barring the release of the film, Padmaavat managed to do wonders at the box office. Actress Deepika Padukone celebrated the success of her film with media, relishing the traditional Rajasthani Thali.
