Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Raees” which has received lots of appreciation across India and overseas was scheduled to release in Pakistan on February 10. However, the film’s release in the neighbouring nation has been put on hold, fresh reports by Pakistani media suggest.

When the ban on Bollywood films in Pakistan was lifted recently, the “Raees” team were overjoyed and were really looking forward for the film’s release and response from the Pakistani fans.

Initially, the film had to face controversy in India for featuring Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and presenting religion in a bad light.

Pakistani media Samaa TV reported “Although Sindh and Punjab Censor Boards have issued U certificates to Raees on Friday, Central Censor Board is yet to approve the screening of the film in Pakistan. According to Chairman Censor Board, they have previewed the film, however, the decision will be taken on coming Monday as Saturday is weekly off and Sunday is a public holiday.”

Another Pakistani daily suggested that the verdict to put a hold on the film’s release was because the Censor Board thinks the film “apparently is defaming Muslims and showing them as goons and notorious underworld figures.”

While Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil is enjoying the perks of release in Pakistan, Raees’ fate is yet to be sealed. And we do hope that the Pakistani censor board sees the film in the light it has been made in, and passes it for the citizens to enjoy.

Mahira Khan told reporters in press-con,” You have no idea how much we wanted to get films back here. Raees is a big one. I was getting calls every day. Everyone’s waiting. You can’t even imagine. If you were here you would see how many calls I get asking is it coming. So I think just like it’s done well all over the world, hopefully, they will go in storms to watch it.”

Well as for now it looks like Pakistani fans have to wait for some more time to see SRK’s “Raees”.
