Shoojit Sircar's directorial venture October introducing debutant Banita Sandhu in Varun Dhawan starrer received a decent start at box office on day 1.
An unsual story, describing what is love rather than showcasing love at first sight, October is a film with a unique concept. Unlike Varun's previous films, October had quite low first-day box office collection but expectations are high and it is assumed that the film will make a good business at BO.
October was released with as many as 1683 screen count in India and with 625 overseas screen count. In total worldwide October got released with 2308 screens.
As per the early estimates, Varun's October made a total collection of Rs 5-6 crore on day 1 at the domestic market. However, actual figures are still awaited.
Trade Analyts Taran Adarsh tweeted, ''#October screen count...India: 1683, Overseas: 625 Worldwide total: 2308 screens.''
Earlier talking about his film and cast, filmmaker Shoojit said, ''We needed someone young and fresh, like 20 years old, so Varun Dhawan was not on my casting list at all. Also I had not seen his films. But one day he was in office and I saw him, I was aware of his image, his commercial world image, but somewhere I felt he is not like that, he is different."
"I wanted to cast absolutely fresh for this film. So when I met Banita, I saw someone who was very intelligent, her eyes were really expressive, and she didn't have to do too much to express, she did very little and it expressed a lot and that I would call acting. I felt in my gut and instinct that she was right,'' said Shoojit talking about the fresh face of October Banita.
