After a rocking box-office innings with Judwaa 2,  Varun Dhawan is back on the big screen with 'October'. The film is his first collaboration with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar and also Banita Sandhu's maiden film in Bollywood. While the trailer and songs unveiled before the release of the film managed to create the right buzz, October started off with a slow but decent collection on the first day and managed to take in a total of Rs 5.04 crore on day one. Now, the third day collection of October is out and, the film has witnesses ample growth on weekend.

“#October witnessed ample growth on Sat and Sun, after a slow start on Fri morning/noon... While the trending is healthy, it’s all about maintaining the pace on weekdays now... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 7.47 cr, Sun 7.74 cr. Total: ₹ 20.25 cr. India biz”, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Instagram.

October has been well praised mainly for the direction and Varun’s performance in the film. October’s first-day collection is better than films like Hichki and Blackmail which fared on a similar note.

Earlier, Varun had mentioned that he did not do October thinking of box office numbers. He stated that he went by his instinct and had followed through with Shoojit for almost a year to cast him in his film. Shoojit, on the other hand, too, was all praises for Varun and has termed it as his best performance to date.
