The Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Aiyaary was supposed during Republic Day. However, the makers pushed the release date to February 9 in order to avoid clash with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. Now, just before few days left for the film to hit the cinemas, Aiyaary seems to have entangled into another hurdle. The film, also featuring Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakulpreet Singh and Pooja Chopra, is produced by Motion Picture Capital and directed by Neeraj Pandey.
Aiyaary special screening was held on Saturday in Delhi by the Revising Committee of Ministry of I&B, which was attended by officials from Defence Ministry and members of the Central Board of Film Certification, according to a Mid-day report.
The reports suggest that the body has asked for five cuts, and the last-minute changes have sent the makers back to the editing table.
"There's a strong chance that Aiyaary will be postponed to February 16. The team will submit the film to the CBFC only after making the recommended changes. The overseas delivery of the film looks difficult, considering we won't have the censor certificate in time. That will, in turn, affect the India release”, Co-producer Jayantilal Gada was quoted as saying to the daily.
However, Sidharth Malhotra said that his film will release on "As far as I know, my producers are handling it and it is in the process. They have assured me the film is releasing on time. It is a production aspect and I have complete faith in my team”, the actor was quoted as saying to PTI.
In Aiyaary, Sidharth plays an Army officer who has an ideological difference with another senior officer, played by Manoj Bajpayee.
