The makers of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ have rubbished the news reports of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu’s exit from the show, saying he is yet to give any notice to the channel.
It was lately reported that Sidhu is leaving the show, hosted by Kapil Sharma, in order to focus on the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
Navjot Singh Sidhu had recently launched his political party ‘Awaaz-e-Punjab’, post his resignation from BJP, and is planning to contest for 117 seats in the state.
In fact, his wife had also, reportedly, told an entertainment portal that Sidhu will pay attention to his political career. She also stated that he has shot all the episodes till September 30 and has bid adieu to the team of the comedy show as well.
However, Preeti Somes, who happens to be the creative producer of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ has refuted all these reports with a tweet on micro-blogging site Twitter.
She wrote that neither Sidhu has officially neither informed the channel nor the producers about the said exit, so he is very much part of the show so far.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that the reports of Navjot Singh Sidhu quitting ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ have been doing the rounds. Earlier, when Sidhu resigned as a member of Rajya Sabha in July this year, it was reported that he might quit the comedy show as well.
Navjot has been associated with the comedian-turned-actor Kapil Sharma since the beginning of ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ on Colors. Post Kapil’s tussle with the channel, Sidhu too left along with the entire team of the ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’.
He has been a part of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ since it was launched in April this year on Sony. The show also stars Chandan Prabhakar, Sumona Chakravoati, Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar.
