Absconding ‘Murderer’ turned scriptwriter for ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ nabbed in Mumbai

While UP police was hunting for Ram Abhishek Singh alias Kera Singh for last seven years in connection with a double murder case in AzamGarh, it turned out the accused was writing scripts for one of India’s top comedy programme ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ in Mumbai.

Singh was working in Mumbai with a new alias Rohit Singh , he was nabbed by UP Police Special Task Force on Wednesday in Mumbai’s Andheri West area and was to be brought to Azamgarh on transit remand. The STF team recovered a voter identity and PAN card in Rohit Singh’s name from Kera.

Allegedly, Singh has managed to escape the police by using multiple aliases including Kera Singh, Rohit Singh, Baljinder Singh.

According to reports, In 2009, Abhishek and his uncle had gunned down an arch rival from his village and injured three more persons fatally. Abhishek and his uncle Manoj Singh had used carbines, a long arm firearm, to fire indiscriminately at their targets. A cash reward of Rs 50,000 was announced on Manoj while Abhishek was carrying a reward of Rs 30,000. 

SSP STF Amit Pathak said that Manoj had been arrested in 2011 from Gorakhpur but Abhishek had remained elusive since 2009..

Singh, who has acted in the show, The Great Indian Family Drama, has been a scriptwriter for other serials as well and has managed to give the police the slip by hiding in plain sight. He was working with the K-9 production house on a contract.

"Intelligence gathering revealed that he (Abhishek) had acted in as many as nine episodes of Great Indian Family Drama apart from another serial titled Code Red which are available on YouTube," said additional SP STF Arvind Chaturvedi, who led the operation
