New Delhi: The biopic ‘Azhar’, based on the life of former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, is all set to release on May 13. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri in lead roles, the movie has created a quite a noise around it.
But as per the latest reports, Mohammad Azharuddin is not too pleased with the makers for portraying certain aspects of his life on the silver screen.
"Azhar bhai shared some information off the record with the makers who went ahead and incorporated that in the film. The sensitive information was not supposed to make it to the screen, but it has. The worry here is that some of that information can open an old can of worms for some people," says a source.
As per reports, Azharuddin, known for polite demeanour, lost his cool with the makers and wants those bits to be taken off. However, makers are keen on compelling Azhar and keeping the part they have added.
Speaking on issue director Tony D'Souza said:
"We are in talks with Azhar bhai regarding certain sections in the film. But it's something that we will sit and resolve amicably".
Notably, ‘Azhar’ is the narration of Azaharuddin’s personal as well as professional life. Especially, what happened when he was struck in the match-fixing controversy!
In real life, Azhar fought the allegations and got a clean chit from the Andhra Pradesh High Court. On the other hand, the ‘Azhar’ filmmakers are yet to receive ‘green signal’ from Azharuddin himself.
Interestingly, the ‘Azhar’ makers are already in the middle of battle of some former cricketers and film celebrities, who fear the way they may have been portrayed in the film, and have threatened legal action.
