New Delhi: Singer Mika Singh, who is part of a popular comedy show on Colors got himself on the wrong side of channel after he appeared on an episode of Kapil Sharma’s comedy show on rival channel Sony. The episode featuring Mika in ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ is yet to be aired but the controversy around it has gained much attention.
After statements from actor-comedian Krushna Abhishek (on whose show ‘Comedy Nights Live’, Mika is a permanent guest) and rumours that Colors channel is thinking of replacing Mika; the singer has now spoken up on the entire issue. Mika, in an interview to a leading daily, said that he knows the channel is upset and he hopes the matter is resolved quickly.
“I am not hurt or disappointed with their decision. No artiste is bigger than the channel and my absence will not cost them much. I know that the channel is upset and I hope things get resolved soon. But I can only say that it wasn't intentional,”
said Mika.
It is also being reported that Colors has sent a legal notice to the team of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and asked them not to air the sections of the show which feature Mika.
Mika, on the other hand, has defended his stint on TKSS saying he went there just to promote his film ‘Housefull 3’ and not to replace Navjot Singh Sidhu. He said,
“Yes, I could have informed the channel, but it needs to be taken into account that I didn't go to Kapil's show in place of Sidhuji (Navjot Singh Sidhu) or become a permanent fixture, as I understand that my responsibilities are quite similar to Sidhuji's on my show. I appeared on Kapil's show as a celebrity to promote my songs.”
When asked why he went to a rival show given the bitter history between Kapil and Colors, Mika said;
“Every show has a loyal audience and one person can't affect that. I agree that it could lead to a divided viewership, but people come back to watch their favourite shows. I love both Krushna and Kapil equally and no one is better than the other. They are equally talented. While one infuses dancing in comedy, the other sings to enhance his comedy. I immediately agreed when the channel contacted me to become a part of Krushna's show because of my equation with them. I was signed on for 26 episodes and I have shot around 15 episodes so far.”’
Mika ended his conversation on a happy note saying that one day he hopes Kapil, him and Krushna will party together.
