Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all set to mesmerise fans as Manto in Nandita Das directorial venture Manto. Manto is a story based on the life journey of Saadat Hasan Manto, who was a Pakistani writer. As soon as the trailer of Manto dropped on the online platform, it started receiving praises worldwide.
Ahead of its release, Nawazuddin starrer Manto, was selected for Toronto International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival amongst others.
The trailer revolves around the philosophy of writer Saadat Hasan Manto. The fearless Pakistani writer was known for his hard-hitting truth revealing write ups. Manto was often blamed with the charge of obscenity because of his strong writings. The filmmaker Nandita Das has tried to explore this side of Manto in the film.
Apart from Nawazuddin, Manto also features Rasika Dugal and Tahir Bhasin, Rishi Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Divya Dutta, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Paresh Rawal and Rajashri Deshpande in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to release on September 21.
