While Kangana Ranaut is back in the news for making some bold comments, her film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, on the other hand, is going steady at the box office. The period war drama has had a roller coaster ride at the ticket windows but its now heading towards the Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office. Apart from faring well on the home turf, Kangana's film has also done good business in the international markets. Co-starring Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta, Manikarnika released on January 25 and opened to decent reviews courtesy Kangana's powerful performance.
"#Manikarnika has a solid turnaround on [third] Sat [growth: 112%], which was witnessed on [second] Sat [growth: 50%] as well... Biz on [third] Sun should witness strong momentum... [Week 3] Fri 1.25 cr, Sat 2.65 cr. Total: ₹ 88.45 cr. India biz", writes film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Kangana Ranaut plays the role of Jhansi Ki Rani and has impressed the masses with her performance. On the other hand, television star Ankita Lokhande is all set to mark her debut with the film as she plays Jhal Kari Bai who was the major supporter of Rani Laxmi Bai in the war from the British.
