After heavy rains lashed Mumbai, Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar took to social media to praise the efforts by locals and religious places in Mumbai to help people. This is known to all that the city is witnessing heavy rainfall which has led to traffic snarls and waterlogging. Many celebrities on social media have not only shared the videos of rain but also requested people to stay safe.
On Tuesday, entire Mumbai received heavy rains with the suburbs notching up a staggering 316 mm in a 12-hour cycle -- the highest record since the great Mumbai floods of 2005. On Wednesday, the city was trying to limp back to normal.
"People of Mumbai stood united, all religious places of different religions opened their gates for those seeking help during heavy rain yesterday (Tuesday). This view of brotherhood has touched my heart. I would like to salute all of them," Mangeshkar tweeted on Wednesday.
Besides Mangeskar, Bollywood celebrities like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Suniel Shetty extended support to people affected by the deluge.
