Actor Akshay Kumar and director Anurag Singh combo is turning out to be extremely profitable as their film Kesari is roaring at the box-office. Earning double number figures of Rs 21.51 crore on Sunday, the action-war film now stands strong at Rs 78.07 crore on the fourth day its opening. The Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starrer Kesari, which hit the cinemas on Holi 2019, saw a mega opening across 4,200 screens across the world, including 3,200 screens in India alone.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#Kesari puts up an impressive total... North circuits are superb... While the 4-day total is good, the biz on Sat and Sun should’ve been higher, since the word of mouth is excellent... Thu 21.06 cr, Fri 16.75 cr, Sat 18.75 cr, Sun 21.51 cr. Total: ₹ 78.07 cr. India biz”.
“Section of the industry feels #IPL2019 curtailed the growth of #Kesari on Sat [evening] and Sun... Two days that could’ve made a biggg difference to the *extended* weekend total... Weekdays pivotal... Strong numbers and solid trending [Mon-Thu] are a must”, Taran Adarsh further added.
With the latest Box Office Collection, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari has achieved the following benchmarks till date.
• Highest Day 1 of 2019 [so far]: ₹ 21.06 cr
• Crossed ₹ 50 cr: Day 3
• Crossed ₹ 75 cr: Day 4
• Highest opening weekend of 2019 [so far]: ₹ 78.07 crore
Kesari is expected to do well in the coming week since there is not much competition from major films. This coming Friday Vidyut Jammwal’s Junglee and Salman Khan Production’s Notebook will be hitting the cinemas. However, experts are of the opinion that both the movies will not affect Kesari’s box-office collection.
