Sara Ali Khan’s debut film Kedarnath is just a day away from its theatrical release. The film, also starring Sushant Singh Rajput, is based against the backdrop of Uttarakhand Floods of 2013. Right from the trailer itself, this Abhishek Kapoor directorial has courted controversies due to its sensitive premise. However, if the controversies kept aside, Kedarnath is trending on the internet for myriad other reasons. Firstly, major portions of the film were shot in the pristine valley of Kedarnath and secondly, it marks the debut of Bollywood’s most loved star kid Sara Ali Khan.
Kedarnath is releasing on December 7 while the 2.0 magic hasn’t left people’s heads yet. The Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar is basking in the box office success of the film. Made on a whopping budget of around Rs 500 crore, 2.0 has already brought the money home. Talking about worldwide collection, the film has earned Rs 500 crore at the box office. Now the question remains, will Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput’s Kedarnath manage to stump 2.0’s magnanimous run at the box office.
According to our estimates, citing that Kedarnath is not releasing on a holiday, the film might make around Rs 7-8 crore at the box office on its opening day. Overthrowing a mega-budget and multi-starrer film like 2.0 which has the major entertainers Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead role, isn’t a cakewalk. However, Kedarnath’s numbers are expected to be the decent ones. It might hamper 2.0 smooth run to some extent, but totally dethroning it, is a distant dream.
Kedarnath, directed by Aanand L Rai, is written by Manmarziyaan writer Kanika Dhillon. It is releasing on December 7 across India.
