Actress Katrina Kaif, who is to be awarded with the Smita Patil Award, has replied to all the trolls questioning her felicitation. In a conversation with a leading daily, Katrina said that not one British actress could speak Hindi as fluently as her. The ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ actress also said that she can always count on superstar Salman Khan but she wants to prove herself.
Katrina’s statements have come in the wake of an incident when she drew flak recently. When it was announced that Katrina will be conferred with the prestigious Smita Patil memorial award, many did not like the choice. The organisers said that Katrina was unanimously chosen for her contribution to Hindi cinema and many on social media trolled her saying that it was time to leave the planet after this.
Responding to these trolls, Katrina Kaif said that she did not think that people would talk about her after the failure of ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ but that is not the case and she is happy about it.
Katrina said that the Smita Patil award is the recognition of her hard work. She said that as a British actor, speaking fluent Hindi is a sign of her hard work. She added that she is not a born actor but tries to improve with each day. On the honour she is about to receive, Katrina said that she has great respect for Smita Patil and feels ‘humbled’.
‘Baar Baar Dekho’, Katrina’s last release was vigorously promoted but it failed to impress audience. Talking about what may have led to the debacle, Katrina said that the movie was ahead of its time and people could not relate to it. About all the efforts she put in the movie, Katrina said that she gave the movie everything her abs, bikini scenes etc, but it still did not work out.
It was after this that Katrina said that she knows she can always bank on Salman but she is resolute on proving her acting skills.
“I know I can always bank on Salman but I want to prove myself as an actor, and I am determined to do so,” Katrina reportedly said.
Currently, Katrina is prepping for her upcoming movie in which she plays the role of a girl who isn’t allowed to speak. Clarifying that she is not a deaf and dumb girl in it, Katrina said that it is an interesting role and she is training hard for the project.
