Off late plenty of new information about the 1998 super-hit movie ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ have been surfacing. From director Karan Johar confessing that it was the stupidest movie he could helm, to revealing how superstar Salman Khan made him beg before agreeing to wear a suit, a lot has come out lately.
Now the director has doled out that before Salman Khan he had approached another actor for the role of Aman.
Karan on the chat show of Riteish Deshmukh and Sajid Khan- ‘Yaaron Ki Baraat’ with friend Farah Khan, said that he went to actor Chandrachur Singh with the part. Recalling the incident, Karan said that three actors had already rejected the role. It was then that he went to Chandrachur who asked him to call him the following day. The next day when KJo called Chandrachur, the actor said that he would do the movie only after listening to the entire narration.
Paying heed to his demand, Karan went all the way to from Malabar Hill to Seven Bungalows. Before Karan could even start with the narration, Chandrachur said he was not interested in the movie.
“I just thought he could have told me that on the phone and saved my two hours of travel time,” Karan added.
So how did Salman get the role?
Telling about the story behind it, Karan said Salman approached him at a party and said that since no one wanted to do his movie he would. Salman asked Karan to give him a narration the next day and by the first half he gave his nod.
“I told him, 'What about the second half? Your character is not even there in the first half.' But he didn't question me and accepted the role,” said Karan.
Well, now after so many years no one would be able to imagine Chandrachur as Aman.
Not only Salman, Karan had to sweat a lot for Tina’s role too. The role was first offered to Twinkle Khanna then to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan before Rani Mukerji agreed to do the part.
