New Delhi: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is one such celeb in the tinselvile who has the courage to speak her mind, no matter what. The diva, irrespective of what people may think of her, stands for what she feels is right.
Recently, the diva has been stuck in several controversies against her. An ugly legal scuffle with Hrithik Roshan and then the explosive interview by her former boyfriend Adhyayan Suman, Kangana stood against all odds.
The diva has successfully carved a niche for herself in Bollywood. In fact, she is the only actress who is ruling the industry without having worked with any of the three Khans – Salman, Aamir or Salman.
So when the ‘Queen’ actress was quizzed about working with the Khans, Kangana gave a rather bang on reply.
She said, “In the beginning, I wanted a very easy and conventional route to follow where i can work with big heroes and be a big heroine. That happens in bollywood. If you work with a superstar, you become a superstar, even if you are a newcomer. That didn’t happen with me. It just didn’t. Now I get lot of offers to act with the Khans. I remember when I was struggling to get my father’s support to help me financially, he was clear it’s my way or highway. If you don’t want to go to school, I have no money for you. Now I am successful, I already have money and he is giving me money. It’s the same thing with the Khans. When I wanted work, nobody was ready to work with me and now that i am my own hero on the sets, why should I work with other hero. Rangoon has three heroes, Saif, Kangana and Shahid.”
The actress also spoke about the pay disparity in Bollywood and on not being paid as much as the Khans, Kangana said, “Khans are like a phenomena, so I wouldn’t want to compare myself with them. But when it comes to other male counterparts, I make sure I am paid as much as they do.”
“If I do a very small role in a film, say an appearance or maybe one important scene, then I should charge according to that. But if I’m playing a central character and literally playing the plot driving protagonist which consumes my entire year and most of my time, then I should charge according to what I am providing as an artist,” she further added.
Kangana Ranaut, has recently been accused of doing witchcraft, to which the diva stated that she is just not clarifying herself. In fact, she would want her daughter to be aware of this ancient art.
“Witchcraft is an ancient art, everyone should know about it. What is wrong with witchcraft? Don’t we like Harry Potter? I would want my daughter to know about witchcraft,” Kangana Ranaut told a leading daily.
The diva is currently gearing up for the release of her forthcoming movie ‘Rangoon’ and has high hopes for it.
“I feel it won’t be surprising if next year also I win an award because Rangoon is a very promising film. But you never know, I don’t want to say anything right now. But for a female protagonist, it’s a very strong character and I hope they consider me as a winner next year too. I can hope(smiles),” Kangana was quoted saying to a leading daily.
Helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj, ‘Rangoon’ is slated to release on September 30.
