October October

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s October featuring actors Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu received positive reviews from the audiences. The movie is performing well at the box office. Recently, a Marathi filmmaker Sarika Mene, has accused Sircar for copying the storyline of their film, Aarti – The Unknown Love Story. Reportedly, the story of the Marathi film was based on the life of Sarika's brother Sunny Pawar and his lover Aarti Makwana.

Mid-Day quoted Sarika Mene as saying, “I want the audience to watch both films and be impartial in their opinion. When I watched October, [I realized that] the emotions and characters portrayed are similar. Only a few things don't match.”

She further added, “How can a writer have imagined the exact events that had occurred in my brother's private life? I want to know where he [Sircar] got his film's idea from - sometimes he says it's inspired from his life, sometimes he says a newspaper article [was the starting point]”

Director Hemal Trivedi posted on Facebook and wrote, “The filmmakers of October never acquired any rights to the Marathi film and they never contacted Sarika.”

Shoojit’s reaction on the same is still awaited.

October is written by Juhi Chaturvedi. Varun was heaped with praises for his spectacular performance in the movie. October has collected Rs 30.24 cr till now.
