Kangana Ranaut is currently shooting for her ambitious project Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi in which she is portraying the role of Rani Laxmibai. The initial release date of the movie was April 27 but recent reports suggest that the film has been delayed by four months. And now the latest buzz is that Kangana wants Manikarnika to hit the screens on Independence Day.
According to a report in mid-day, Kangana feels that the biopic of the warrior queen makes it apt for August 15 release. If this happens to be the case, then Manikarnika might clash with Reema Kagti's Gold, starring Akshay Kumar. Gold is also due on the same date and the makers of the movie booked the date back in 2016. Even Gold has a patriotic theme, which tells the story of India's historic win in 1948 Olympic hockey. It is being said that Kangana feels that both the movies can flourish at the same time.
Meanwhile, Kangana is set to collaborate with Rajkummar Rao for her next thriller. It will be a reunion for Rajkummar and Kangana who have earlier worked in superhit Queen.
Akshay Kumar, on the other hand, is currently basking in the success of his recent release PadMan, which is a biopic of Arunachalam Muruganantham. The movie, directed by R Balki revolves around menstrual hygiene and taboos.
