Bollywood film Hindi Medium starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar, which opened to a fine start in Hong Kong, is continuing its reign. Before Hong Kong the movie enjoyed a good run in China where Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s films have done brisk business in recent times. After debuting at the 10th position, the satirical drama witnessed a huge growth on Saturday and now stands with the grand total of Rs 1.07 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, “#HindiMedium shows an upward trend on Day 3 in Hong Kong... Growth on Sat [vis-à-vis Fri]: 72.85%...Thu HK$ 231,648 Fri HK$ 263,227 Sat HK$ 454,983 / 44 locations / 61 showings Total [incl preview screenings held earlier]: HK$ 1,189,585 [₹ 1.07 cr]”
Apart from Irrfan, the film also stars Sada Qamar, Deepak Dobriyal, Dishita Sehgal, Tillotama Shome and Amrita Singh in pivotal roles. Hindi Medium is directed by Saket Chaudhary, who previously helmed films like Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Pyaar Ke Side Effects.
Before the release, when Saket was that whether Hindi Medium will be able to do better business than Aamir’s films? He replied, “I think all of us owe Aamir Khan for showing an initiative and vision in taking Hindi cinema to a new and large audience. Without ‘Dangal’, the Chinese audience may not have been familiar with the new Hindi cinema emerging here that blends entertainment with strong social themes.”
